    Can't burn at 16x :(

I have a brand new BenQ writer, but when I use Shrink at 16x option it burns all of disk then at the end it fails. I have NO problem burning at 12x.

Can you help me? What would be causing that problem?

    Thank You

Burning @ 16x can cause all kinds of problem because it is just too fast!

Normally a burn speed of 8x or less is recommended for reliable burns.

It can be done but you have a greater chance of an error occurring.

          1. a very healthy computer, going to have to feed 23 MB/s at the end of the burn

          2. a good stable power supply to push the wattage thru the laser when the disk gets to spinning that fast

          3. a darn good burner with good firmware

          4. premium media that can match those speeds

if you can get all that right, 90% of the time an 8x or 12x burn will still be better

I do all my burns at 8x. Have had good burns with it so I just keep it there.

Just created a coaster yesterday, I was doing copy a copy with Nero, so I just let it burn, Max speed which for the media was 16X. Failed right towards the end. Same type of media, went back in & this time adjusted the burn speed to 8X before starting to copy, you guessed it, no problems.

Some typical reasons why your can't burn at 16X

                1. Your burner is not designed to burn at 16X. Maybe a firmware update is needed. Or even an older burner.
                2. Your blank media is not designed to burn at 16X.
                3. Some software programs like Imgburn, Roxio, Plextor will only let your burn at a rate that has been successful in the past with the type of burner your are using and the type of media your are using.
                4. Try DVD+R media you might get faster burns.

from 8x to 16x you only save 2 minutes max but

it may wore your burner faster? make it hotter and easy to mess up all my burns are 8x only ( 12x and 16x are for testing only )
