Litescribe only DVDs or Inscriptable?

I am buying a new computer tomorrow that has Litescribe . I just bought blank Maxell DVDs that say "Write once single sided Inscriptable". Does this mean they will work with my Litescribe or do I have to buy Litescribe DVDs?

I'm a little fuzzy on how Litescribing works but I'm guessing it's like when we were in second grade and drew on a piece of paper with all the colors in a rainbow and then covered it with the black crayon before taking a paper clip and carving a design. Is that an appropriate analogy? It seems amazing!

Did you buy media with lightscribe on it?

If you did then you burn your DVD as normal, then you flip it over and you can burn whatever you have selected onto the special top surface of the disc.

If the disc is lightscribe enabled the lightscribe side will be a gold like color.

I did not know that, the only lightscribe disc I have are a golden color.

Be prepared to wait awhile; it can take over 20 min. for a detailed design! I have 4 lightscribe drives, & when I want fancy labels, I use my epson r220 printer w/ printable media (full color).

Much faster! ( I am not that patient)!

These are gold dvds and they look different from regular DVDs. I didn't know what Inscriptable meant but I figured it was like generic Litescribe. Is Litescribe a brand name like Jello? If so, does that mean there's only ONE brand of DVDs you'd be able to buy to use it? I'm sorry for the dumb questions, I just don't get it yet.

Yeah, the green ones look pretty good. I use them for 'gift' CDs.

Lightscribe is a trademark of a technology for cd and dvd scribing ....the disks ,cd or dvd, and cd/dvd writers to work with this technology,can be manufactured by different companies.....ie.....memorex lightscribe dvd+r/rw, hp lightscribe dvd+r/rw, and so on....

Can you use the Epson with the Lightscribe media??!! I'd much rather do that if you can, since the design parameters are much broader.

I use Verbatim Lightscribe discs and they work well.

Incriptable?...

I believe incriptable/recordable just means that they are recordable discs. I have some and tried them in my lightscribe and labelflash drives and neither drive detected them. I am sure generic lightscribe discs will be out soon, if not already.

Cheapest and Fastest printing on all types of media

1. use + media
2. use blank white media
3. Get a printer that will print on blank white DVD's like Epson R220
4. Fill your own ink tanks, much, much cheaper
