    checking if drive can booktype??

Hi all....is there any other web site besides this one : http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters or tool that'll tell me if my burner can booktype a DVD+R disc to DVD-ROM?? My burner doesn't show up on the list.

This is my burner: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N
    (I think LG makes it).

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Your drive is an LG GMA-4082N

I was looking for it at videohelp and it is not listed.

You could try opening the drive in ImgBurn and see if you can set the bitsetting feature of ImgBurn. If you can, then it is capable

I guessing it won't mess up the good blank DVD+R if the drive isn't capable of bitsetting, right?? Don't want to waste any discs, ya know?

Here is a link that is very informative.

Edit: you don't even have to burn just open ImgBurn, insert the disc & then go to booktype where it will tell you success or not.

BTW with the latest ImgBurn, if you are successful with the LG it has an autobooktype feature, so you won't have to do it again.

cool...good to know..Thanks soup. I just picked up some Sony DVD+R's today. (Still haven't used all my -R's yet, so I'll have wait to use the +R's.) This will be the first time I use +R's to make back-ups, so I figured I might as well start to do bitsetting on them, more fun with the burn, ya know.
