    Burn Process Failed

I am trying to burn a dvd for the very first time and am using nero 7. I used dvd shrink and saved it as an ISO file. When trying to burn it, I get an error “burn process failed at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s).” I am using Maxell dvd-r discs and closed all open windows prior to burning. The program automatically burns at 16x but I also tried 5x with the same results. Any help would be appreciated!

Just a few things before the real pros get here.

    Memory in use: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56373.

Firmware: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=57993. If you choose to flash, do it from safe mode, no disc in drive.

I strongly urge you to read & use The Golden Rules.

The program automatically burns at 16x
You choose the burn speed, don't let the program.

the illegal disk and burning a dvd-r at a dvd+r speed(2.4x) are usually a dead giveaway that the firmware doesn't support that disk/mid code(ritekF1)

looks like an dell oem nec burner

since your firmware is 102C, I would try 104C from this page

fast removes the riplock/faster ripping of factory disks
rpc1 also makes it region free

        It works!!!!

Thank you both so much. First, I went in and cleaned out programs and my startup programs and though it didn't help with burning the dvd, my computer is moving a lot faster. I did confirm on the dell website that there was a recommended upgrade for my firmware which I downloaded. Yippee! It works just fine now. Thanks again!
