I'm running a coaster factory. Please help!

I'm using RipIt4Me, DVD Shrink, & DVD Decrypter with an external Sony 820U and Sony 16x DVD R- media for my backup needs.

Some backups play without a problem. Some of the backups play fine for perhaps the first half or more, then I get progressively worse pixelation, stuttering video, and freezing. I thought that I had this problem fixed when I bought a DVD player designed to play DVD R± media (Phillips DVD622).

I've actually taken a disc that won't play well and ripped it to produce another backup that plays just fine. It's too bad I can't hook my DVD drive up to my TV!

Am I using the wrong software? Should I buy another DVD player for my TV? Could the disc labels I use cause enough wobble to generate tracking errors?

sounds like the older player didnt like the burns at all......my older toshiba player did this with all my burns.....as for labels, they can absolutely be the cause of the problem.
I used to use labels, and had the same problem, pixelation and stoppage of play.
As Ive been told multiple times on this forum, from the pros.....no labels....sharpie markers , or lightscribe dvd's, or other printable media
And don't forget to use GOOD media!

Maybe give this a read. Or search dvd labels in this forum, you'll find multiple posts on why not to use labels.

Posting one of your dvddecrypter burn logs would tell us a lot and maybe isolate the problem, that sony media is OK but no a grade A type.

lose the disk labels, might be a lot of the problem

usually a sign you are burning too fast

put a blank in and post the right hand screen from dvddecrypter

I bought the Phillips a few months ago, because an older DVD player refused to play most anything I burned.

I'll try burning without the fancy labels. In a local retail store, I've seen a Sony DVD player that is supposed to correct for any wobble, perhaps that caused by labels, too?

@Chewy.....seems there's enough posts out there on this topic to make even a wookies head spin, for me the labels, specifically memorex cd/dvd labels were the problem. Even after i began bitsetting, if I used one of these labels, the problem occured again. I'm sure other variables could definately cause a similar problem, ie....bad media, burn speed, etc, etc.

probably a factor of 2 or 3 things they are doing wrong, the disk skipping later into the movie is usually burning too fast? But may be the label also?

Agreed......when I was having the problem I never burnt above 4x, heck I almost never burn movies above 4x now...lol, I just decided that all you pros on here must know something, hahaha, so I ditched the labels and the problems went away! Saved me from buyin a new dvd player too!!

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I burn at 4x speed. Sorry, but there's so much to think about -- I just forgot.

I don't know a thing about bit setting.

well a log or that copy and paste from the dvddecrypter window I asked for
might tell us if firmware of the dvd burner was an issue?

otherwise our crystal balls will keep us guessing

burn a disk, save the log as a text file, test the burn without putting a label on

if the disk has problems post the log(copy and paste), if it doesn't have any problems post anyway and let us know the details
