    Trouble burning DL discs

    Hey,
I seem to have trouble burning dual layer dvd's... I just copied my Talladega Nights movie onto a single layer re-writable dvd and everything worked fine, then I tried burning the movie onto a dual layer disc (using the same ripped files - using RipIt4Me) and it had an error while copying (yet another dual layer frisbee!!).
Should I use a program other than DVD Shrink to write DL discs? or does my burner just suck? it's in a new HP Dv9000 laptop...which does support DL writing

    Thanks for any help,
    Joe

I remember reading that DVD Shrink will not handle the layerbreak rigth.

You can use your ripped files and load them in ImgBurn or rip in ISO mode thru RipIt4Me and then burn the ISO file (by selecting the .mds file) in ImgBurn.

Until the cost of DLs come way, way down, I'll continue burning on two dvds if necessary. The occasional coaster is annoying enough with the single layer dvds...

IMO, if you can succesfully go from rip straight to backing up your owned movie to DL media, then that's the way to go! It's the quality man!!!! no shrinking or compression....

Agreed, but "successfully" is the operative word - and the cost of the occasional unsuccessful burns on DL media is too much for my wallet. By spreading my burns over two single layer discs I avoid compression - AND it's a lot cheaper.

@ rosariorose9, Well my operative word is yet, as in I've yet to create a coaster with DL media! guess I've been lucky eh?

Hello all am new to this stuff I am having problems with my DL is there some setting in Nero that i should use. I have no problem using ripit for me and dvd shrink and Nero says its good but they end up intermitant costers. I just bought a new Sony DVD player to see if that was the problem alas not. DVD Burner is a light scribe GSA-H42L, and my media is Memorex DVD+R DL I have done a couple of searchs and this is the closest I have come to

ShrinkO I read that and that is the way I do it. Everything apears to be correct its just that they wont play on my new player it says the disk is dirty?? Brand new. I was trying to make a backup of Eragon. if I compress it and use single sided it works just fine. I will get soem Verbatims tomorrow and see if that helps, i saw an earlier comment from you on that score. is 2.4 x two fast for DL? and how do i start a thread of my own. I think i have pushed every button on this site?
O ya and thanks for your help
