    Burning Issue.....

I've had this problem for the past few months and have managed to live with it but it's starting to frustrate me now.

I use DVD Shrink to create an ISO file for burning through DVD Decryptor/IMG Burn. I have a 12x speed dvd writer and my blank DVD's burn upto 16x. I leave the burn speed set to max.

This is where my problem lies when burning the display speed never gets above 1.5x, I'm begining to wonder if this is a sign that the drive is worn out?

Thanks in advnace for the help!

    Hi8 wrdmrn1888,

We need a bit more info., such as:

    What media are you using?

A Burn Log would be helpful, as it would tell us the type of burner, firmware revision, memory in use, etc.

Setting at max speed is a no-no; lower to maybe 8X.

    regards, katz

You may want to check this out.

      Look closely at #2 & #3.

It would be very good if you could post a burn log.

No matter what windows is reporting, DMA looks off.

Or you are usings lots and lots of other processes that require hard disk IOs (but this is not indicated in the log).

Look at Golden Rule #3. Download the program mentioned here, Nero InfoTool & either take a screenshot of the configuration or save the results & paste the text here.

Is it the primary or secondary I'm gonna remove and re-install? I don't have ban option to change it to "Ultra DMA Mode 5".

I'm assuming that this is my hard drive as I have 2? And by doing this will I lose all my files/programmes installed on them?

                              #15
Well you should just in case fix your DMA using #3 on all but I just googled that unknown adapter ID & didn't get a hit so you might want to wait on Chewy on that one.
