    problems with the latest version

Ive been having some burning issues using the current version. Most of the movies i've tried end up as a failure. Either I recieve the failure to burn the dvd error from DVD Shrink after it encodes and burns to disk or the DVD copies ( says copy successful) but wont play back in both pc and DVD player in the living room.

These are the movies that failed.....eyes wide shut, the jerk, man of the year and the new guy. Now, the last two I was finally able to make a good copy of because after the ripping with Ripitforme I ran FIXVTS and then proceeded to use Shrink to copy the movie. the first 2 failed using this meathod.

With the last verion of RipItForMe, the program now uses cleanup VOB's instead of allowing the use of FixVTS within the program. Could this be why I am having a hard time copying or is no one else having this issue?

I have Nero 7 Ultra Edition installed incase you may be wondering what version of Nero I may be running.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated since this is now putting a hamper on my dvd buring.

While I am not the expert on this, it sounds more like a burning issue.

The reason I say this is that it sounds like you are getting it through Shrink.
Shrink does checks to insure the files comply to DVD standards.

You may want to check this out.

      replying

I'll take a look at the link tomarrow after I recover from St. Patricks Day and try to post the burn log as Ive never done that before. I have had no problems with RipitforMe up to this point but since the current version my dvd copying is wishy-washy. The previous versions burned dvd's without a hitch, something had to of changed since the version update.

Looks like i'll have to look into this a little deeper and maybe some more posters will have some more info for me as well.

      thanx for the post

Sounds like a possible media problem or burning too fast. What is the media that you are using.

The media that I have always been using is Memorex DVD +R and within DVD Shrink the setting has always been set to maximun burn speed. Ive never changed those two things for over a yr or so.

Now that I am somewhat sober after ST Patrick Days partying, here's my burn log from my last burn yesterday I believe for the movie The Jerk which I think may have been a successful burn but unable play in all my DVD players.

I think if you were to scan some of those older burns you would find that many were marginal, memorex disks are not known for their consistency,
either batch to batch or within a spindle

burning at 16x is just pushing your luck, especially when using iffy media

having a very good burner has helped, but they do start to wear out

after replacing over 100 older burns I burn slower on better media, too expensive to use cheaper stuff
            and burn faster

                For starters, upgrade your firmware.

                Try burning at 8X.

                  update

Thanx for the reply guys. Here I thought memorex was a good brand, name brand at that. My firmware for the Lite-On is updated but I'll check for a newer version since 6 months ago, they have a new one by now maybe.

                  Update.....
I wanted to try an experiment this morning and found an older version of RipitforMe on another harddrive. It had version 1.6.6.0, so I ran that program and re-ripped The Jerk. Did all the after ripping steps like IFO cleanup, FixVTS and jump to menu. Opened Shrink, encoded and wrote to disk. Got my successful confirmation once writign the lead out was complete. Grabbed the dvd and placed in my dvd player in the living room and presto!!

So, Im not sure why an older version of RipitforMe worked where the current version has been buggy for me but it worked and I may be back in business. Im gonna have to try a few more movies to see if it truely was the program being buggy on my system.

here's the last burn log of the truely successful burn that actually played just incase anyone wants to take a peek and compare the two and see if the can notice a difference.
