Transferring from Hard Drive To DVD

I am running Windows XP Pro on a PC

My problem is, after I have a movie transferred to my Hard Drive using Ripit4me and I try to copy it to a DVD.

I have both NERO 6 Ultra and Nero 7. I have the same problem with both versions. I can play the movie from the Hard Disk with no problem. It’s when I try to make the copy that I run into trouble.<o></o>

I believe that the setup of my NERO is incorrect. I am not really familiar with either version and I only try to use it for this purpose. A friend told me that he had the same problem and he had found a setup procedure on the net but can’t remember where or what it was.

    Any ideas?

      Hi waltwin.
Err... could you describe the "trouble" you run into more specifically?

If it rips fine, and plays fine from the HDD it is likely a media/burn issue.

Please post a nero burn log as ratboy mentioned and we can go from there.

Check for firmware 1st: I have heard it is safer to update NEC firmware in PIO mode. Do this in safe mode, no disk in drive.

            Then fix DMA.

Burning above 6-8X is always ifie.

Let us know if this helps.

Sorry it has taken so long to respond. I have checked with NEC and they say I am good to go on firm ware.

Fixing the DMA is another thing. I have done a lot of reading on that subject and asked a lot of folks and about all I am getting are some glassy eyed stares. I have some information that is telling me to alter my regester and I can do that but I don't quite understand why!

I think that is obvious that this DMA is an area that I not familiar with. I don't mind continuing to look but changing the regester seems a little dramitic.

I did try to reverse the copy procedure since the Lite on Burner copies at a much slower rate but no joy.

I still can't understand why the first disk copied with no problems?

I have made the necessary changes to my DMA with your great procedure. I will keep that on file. Thank you. I also took “Chewys” advice and made the necessary upgrades to NERO 6.

I also slowed down the write speed and now everything seems “OK”.

Thanks for all the help. . (Somehow that seems a little lame) but I really do appreciate all of your help.
