Burning problem?

This may not be the correct forum, but since I ripped the DVD with ripit4me, maybe this will work.

I ripped the DVD Rocky Balboa using the latest ripit4me update. I had no problems with the rip or with shrinking the files using DVDshrink. The problem happens when I go to burn using Nero7. It burns the disc to 100% but gives the message that the burn failed because it is unable to close the disc using disc-at-once. I have backed up countless DVDs using this method but just now encountered this problem. I tried this three different times with the same result. I then uninstalled and reinstalled Nero. No luck. I also, tried to back up and copy an older Scooby Doo video that I earlier backed up, but had the same error message. I am enclosing the Nero log, hope you guys can point me in the right direction, thanks, David.

It could be a media issue. From the log I see that you are using Ritek media.

I suggest to buy a better quality media.

EDIT: If I'm not wrong, you are using 16x certified media. Maybe can be useful also to burn these discs faster than 4x. Can you try to burn a disc at least @8x?

As well as the advice above, I would give ImgBurn a shot at it to see if it is a problem with Nero. Although I would normally suggest creating an ISO with Dvd Shrink & then burning with ImgBurn, you could use the folder you have in ImgBurn's build mode.

I would dump nero 7, kind of strange having that new a laptop and only 512 megs of ram, the ritek media is most of the problem

those laptop dvd burners don't hold up that well for much use?

Guys, thanks for the quick replies. I can burn up to 8x, never thought about that, because I have burned this media @ 4x before (even out of this spindle).

I have never tried ImgBurn does it work with Ripit4me?

I was hoping someone could point out something that may have changed in Nero that I could change back, probably not going to be that easy. lol

Chewy, I am planning on upgrading the ram soon. 512 is what it came with.
Never before had a problem with Nero7. should I go back to Nero6 or try Imgburn?

Imgburn is also my suggestion. It is an excellent burning software, and now it doesn't needs anymore to have an ISO file as input, because you can select files and burn directly on a disc.

well I figure the dvd burner may be on it's way out, the blanks are iffy,
but doing a burn with imgburn will be a way to crosscheck against nero.

stay with 4x and that laptop burner, better media would eliminate one variable

Thanks to all, I am going to try to burn with imgburn. See if that fixes the problem. And yes, I know I should use better media, but I was in a hurry and this was all the store carried. lol

give imgburn 2 or 3 tries with those blanks

if it burns one good disk I will reserve judgement on that laptop burner
