Why don't you try downloading the update again from Nero website and try again after full clean up. You have probably a bad downloaded file so during install your PC was looking for a necessary file which was corrupt or not accessible to continue install.
I installed the same update on my HP lap Top with Vista Premium and put in my own serial number and no problem at all. Mind you this was the first time I installed Nero on this system as so its clean. I have on it the Roxio basic installed as well. But i have a problem in installing it on my desktop with XP OS.
