I figure I already paid $99, only to be even with what I alread have (my laptop) If I have a 2.6GHZ, I should be able to do better with a better card. I'm gonna stick witha NVIDIA, I spke to newegg, they would waive the restocking fee since I am making another (more expensive ) purchase. What do u think would result in the most improvement???

I have to disagree, you gotta check this out.
I got the NEW XFX 7600GT 256MB vid card.
I'm not gonna go through all the results, just the results for the Dell 4600 that I am trying to upgrade.
INFO:
Dell 4600; P4 2.6ghz; 1G DDR RAM; 500W psu; most current nvidia driver 162.18
The 3 cards in question:
1. nvidia GeForce 5200 FX (original card)
2. eVGA 7600GS
3. xfx 7600GT
now the tests
(quick side note: my hp6105 (geforce go 6150) & Dell e310 (integrated video) results were just about the same as the eVGA 7600GS)
TEST 1 (video card stability test)
1. 139
2. 188
3. 1331
TEST 2 (3dmark v5) at 1024 x 768
1. 247
2. 653
3. 4867
TEST 3 (aquamark)
1. GFX 816
CPU 7,261
Triangles/sec: 2,324,371
Frames/sec: 7.72
2. GFX 1,134
CPU 7,126
Triangles/sec: 3,163,209
Frames/sec: 10.51
3. GFX 8,061
CPU 7,005
Triangles/sec: 15,387,008
Frames/sec: 51.11
my question why such a drastic IMPROVEMENT!??
1 point of note: both the 7600GS and 7600GT; only during the black winXP boot screen, there is a slight flicker..
what is your opinion?Last edited by Dr Klovernutz; 15 Sep 2007, 09:32 PM.Comment

I don't feel like argueing with them, newegg tells me to contact evga and evga tries to blame everything but their card. I'll eat the shipping back to newegg just to be rid of the crap card and I'll never deal with evga again (and tell others the same) as for newegg they did waive the "restocking fee" ....Comment
