I need help tweaking the Liteon LH-20A1P

I am currently using this settings:



At 20X, smartburn kicks in and stops the burn and then restarts it. I think this is caused by my slow computer. The 20X attempt took longer than the 16X attempt. But I used the 20X for the benchmark testing (as it was the worst burn). All disc quality scans were done at 8X. Later I will take the 12X or 4X burn and find the best scanning speed.

Summary

I am happy to see that 12X or 4X gave the best results.

But I feel that the PIFs are still too high. Any suggestions on how to improve the number of PIFs in those burns? There are no extra filters at all except Redbook and Imapi. The firmware is up to date.

I can't see unless you attach by the forum attachment, it is wear but my FF is bad, my experiences are that PIF are consistence at 8x and 12x lower them by using diff media ( the best is TY 002 + or -, or verb 002, 003)

12x is better then 8x , and you live to close to the edge , I would not complaint with the 8x or 12x

PS the 4x almost like the 12x, I burn every thing at 8x because I test the most consistense with my burner, if you have the same result about 5 burn then just stick with it

These were data disks burnt by CD/DVD Speed. My normal target is 4364. I have been tweaking my start-up now and have found some unusual things. What I need to do is run process explorer and Comodo firewall together during a burn and watch what other programs are trying to do while burning.

BTW: I have a hard time keeping spoolsv.exe from restarting and the Windows Defender core program from being turned off. I just may remove the Defender program as it was hosing burns before. When I removed it (with my NEC), the quality jumped significantly.

EDIT: so I may need a monitoring program like defender but easier to turn off when burning

unhook from internet? shut down all virus or any other programs? beside the burning?

just a matter of watching all your program while you burning through your task manager?

imgburn uses so little resources, I wonder what's the problem?

nero 7 I could see being impacted as it's such a hog?

one good reason to keep burn speed down to 8x, assuming an 8X burn uses less cpu?

Yes, I unhook from the internet during burning. I just disable it through my "Local Area Connection". I turn off everything else in Process explorer.

This where I discovered that spoolsv and Windows defender wanted to restart themselves all of the time even after stopping them.

EDIT: I do use ImgBurn Chewy. Its footprint is much smaller than Nero.
