Using DVD Shrink movie skips

I've been using DVD Shrink for a couple of years (along with Fab Decryter) and just recently I've had a problem. Occasionally during the playback, it skips. Especially close to the end of the movie. Does anyone know how I can correct this?
Also another question is, if I try to record a movie over 2 hrs, it won't record. Is that just a matter of getting a DVD-R that is longer than 180 minutes, or is it another problem?
