    Mat****a UJ-852s does not burn!

    Dear all,
I have recently bought a new laptop equipped with MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-852S (Firmware 1.50). Unfortunately this DVD burner is not working at all (not with Nero, neither with the Software of the producer).
I am using windows vista. Please help! The Log file is as follow:

I have installed Virtual DAEMON, I think that is the virtual drive that you mention. Does it create conflicts?

About the blanks I have only used some from Corporate Express at speeds of 12x and 6x.

      Thanks

oh yeah, that is a good point.
GSA-5160D an external drive connected via USB.

It used to work but now it doesn't. I really do not understand.
Do you think that chaning the blanks could help?

          ciao,

It's hard to tell what's going on, try a burn at 4X with those noname blanks, next download and install imgburn so we can check some stuff

some better blanks would definitely help

I've have just tried with Philips balnks and it work.
However it doesn't go faster than 4x. I think this is ridicolous... as it says 16x on the blanks and the DVD-drive should go faster than that! I paid lots of money for this stuff.... Any idea why it doesn't go any faster?

              Thanks

it's a laptop, pay a premium for small size and portability, sacrificing performance, especially in gaming and dvd burning

laptop dvd burners go no faster than 8x if I remember right, heat and power issue

stick a good liteon or samsung dvd burner in an external case w/ firewire and buy verbatim 16x dvd+r's and I would still burn at 12X no faster, but using internal quality
burners that can burn in 6 minutes(16x) I still burn at 8x since I want the best burn possible

                    what's 2 or 3 extra minutes?
