    problems burning

Im all of the sudden having problems burning to dvd+r. I have the files compressed and backed up and Im using Nero as I always have. When Nero starts and I add the files it goes ok but at the 1% mark the error box comes up "Burn process failed at 2.4x". I hit ok and thats it, nothing. I have never had this happen unless I had a bad disc or something, but Ive gone through an entire box of discs and just keep getting it. Any ideas?

If this thread needs to be pulled or breaks any rules Im sorry, Ill delete it.

Post a nero burn log and the pros will have a look at it. Quite often there is one or several noticeable problems that can be easily fixed.

How to Post a nero log

are those 16x fuji's, have you always used them?

laptop drives, especially maysh1ta, tear up/wear out quickly, if they burn at all

if it's still reading disks ok, I would save it and get a good external dvd burner

Yes they are fujifilm 16x and no I havent really used them in the past. Ive used them a few times before, but not a lot, but I had them given to me. In the past Ive used Playo 8x, should I try them again? The drive still reads fine and I can burn music fine too, just lately I cant burn dvd files so do you think it might just be the discs? I really appreciate the help, thanks a bunch.

Also, what is a good external drive you would recommend?

I can only guess, it sounds like your burner doesn't like those particular ones, they should be ok with that mid code

does your laptop have usb2 and/or firewire?

Not 100%, but I am 99% sure I have both. I am not very computer literate, sorry, but I do greatly appreciate the help and info.

the better external dvd burners offer both usb2 and firewire connectivity

firewire is faster and less of a system hog generally

if you go to system in control panel then hardware/device manager

under usb you will see an enhanced component if you have usb2

firewire shows as a main entry 1394?

stay away from crossbranded, no telling what you'll get(eg memorex, iomagic etc)

LG's when you can find them are solid and often come with firewire and usb2

In the USA I refer people to newegg but they haven't had much selection recently

every now and then a smaller company in ohio gets some good deals in, some refurbs, some new, a few people have reported good experiences with them

might be worth a call, the case alone sells for 30$, I wonder what's inside

the best build your own cases start at 50$
