dvd shrink

have wds xp purchased maddog 16X burner and worked great for 2 mo. now i use shrink on dvd and nero 6 as before to burn but it takes almost 1 hr. just to burn after shrink does its job. i also burn dvd after a copy is made and it still takes about a hour with nero??? only thing i notices different it says burning at 16X which the media is and says " book type automatically set to dvd rom" i didn't notice tha before but could have said it.... about ready to reformat pc and reinstal.... anyone havd had this issue???
