I found this out purely by accident & opening my big mouth instead of researching. Apparently if you unblock, the LG GSA-H55N will do a Disc Quality Scan. As I found out, a good scanner, no, but a scanner none the less. The disc, (who cares) was burned with SH-S203B SB01-2 FB FR @8X (not mine). Here are the pics.
Who said LGs couldn't DQ Scan?

the author wisely blocked certain writters in the registry since they were such bad scanners, now if soup had scanned that disk with a good scanner(liteon or benq) we could have some sort of baseline to compare to
that lg drives uses the panasonic chipset, unlike several other lg drivesComment

I am sorry, all I got is:
My Sammy:
Sammy,
Sammy,
The sun shines east, the sun shines west,
I know where the sun shines best--
Sammy,
My little Sammy,
My heartstrings are tangled around Alabammy.
I'm comin',
Sorry that I made you wait.
I'm comin',
Hope and trust that I'm not late, oh oh oh
Sammy,
My little Sammy,
I'd walk a million miles
For one of your smiles,
My Sammy! Oh oh oh...

Gee, I'd like to try it though - does it work on the 4163B? And how to "unblock"?

Same disc, but scanned with Lite-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S HSOE (ext) @8X. BTW I tried my H62N, no go.

I just wanna know what registry key needs changing to unblock the LGs and I'll experiment for myself.
@Soup, how did you do it?
