    welcome to the forum

It almost made it, that burner is ok and so are those blanks, there are better burners and verbatim and taiyo yuden make better blanks but even those fail from time to time trying to burn that fast

why worry about a few minutes and waste a disk and a lot of time making coasters

lower your burn speed to 8X

writting that close to the edge/size limit is also dangerous

There are a couple of other things I would change also,

        File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=8.0.0.212 , size=2560 bytes, created 8/25/2006 9:17:00 AM
        File 'Drivers\PXHELP20.SYS': Ver=3.00.56a, size=43528 bytes, created 3/8/2007 5:21:00 AM (Prassi/Veritas driver for win 2K)
shoddy software that sooner or later starts to interfer with nero, nero can get corrupt well enough on it's own

judging by that 40 gig hard drive and the small amount of ram I would guess that your power supply may be a little weak for dvd burning

I would have disconnected the old cd-rom and jumpered the dvd burner as master and put it at the end of a new 80 conductor cable

        but then I am picky

          Thnx a ton Chewy!!

Dis time it wrked wid 4404MB data at 4489MB of DVD-R Media wid 8x speed.

But i wana 2 know sumthin ...dat do i have 2 disable multisession as sum1 said to disable dat too????? ...so dis time i disabled d multisession option ..

I wasted ma 1 DVD to save a few minutes ..

          Neway I m using d old CD-Rom for reading CD's only n DVD RW to read DVD's n write CD's n DVD's ..but i jumpered CD-Rom i.e. made Cd-Rom as Master and DVD RW as slave..so do i hve 2 interchange dis?

1 More thing ,,den wats d use of 18x speed..do I always hve to write at 8x for DVD's?? n wats d recomended speed for CD writing??

plss reply ,,,Thnx a lott Chewy again!!

            8x dvd
            16x cd
in that old computer if you are lucky

leave the cable alone for now but first sign of problems disconnect that old cd-rom, it's worthless, maybe a good doorstop

new dvd burners are designed for new computers not old ones

multisession works best only on the same computer and then messes up when you try to add files several times

since blanks are so cheap I only burn once to cd's and dvd's

now that jump drives are so cheap I hardly burn data cd's any more
