New build refuses to burn DVD's with WinAvi

I recently upgraded my rig and once I had upgraded WinAvi just wouldn't burn DVD's. It would convert the files fine but when it came to burning them to a DVD the program would just hang at 0% and I would have to restart my computer. Before I upgraded a few part's it worked perfectly and my Dvd burner is quite new as is the rest of my rig. My mobo's always have the latest bios. Here are my spec's and the part's I upgraded from:-

Q6600(not G0,think it is B3)@3.2, wouldn't burn at stock either

Asus P5NE-Sli 650i (I now have the XFX MB-N780I-ISH9 Tris Sli

    EVGA 8800GTS 320mb ( I now have 2 x BFG 8800GT OC 512mb's in Sli

    2GB Geil Ultra DDR2 PC6400 Dual Channel memory 800MHz (4-4-4-12)
(I now have added another 2gb to make it 4gb of the same memory(I'm sure it wouldn't work with just 2gb either)

2 x 320gb WD AAKS HD's ( I put these in Raid 0 when I upgraded my comp, I have had these in raid 0 before and never encountered any problems)

OCZ 600SXS StealthXStream 600W PSU( Not the Sli ready version)

    Creative Xfi Extreme Gamer soundcard

All my HD's and dvd drive etc are connected using sata leads and the temps in my case are fine. I have an Antec 900 with 2 x 120mm fans in the front, 1 at the side,1 at the back 1 on the Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme CPU HSF, the huge fan at the top of the case and a corsair dominator ram cooler.

My Dvd drive is the Sony/Nec Optiarc Dvd RW AD-7170S fimware version 1.0 (I have just updated the firmware to the Liggy's and Dee's modified NEC and Optiarc firmware which is supposed to be really good)

I can't see the drive being the problem really as it is quite new and it worked fine before I upgraded and it burns files fine with nero, Data discs etc. Also the discs I am using work fine and always do, I usually have hardly any coasters

I am using Xp Pro 32bit

I just can't figure it out. I thought maybe it was some kind of incompatibility issue with my mobo as it is pretty new and there may well still be some bugs that need ironing out(I have already updated the bios). Either that or my dvd drive is fubar but I don't want to go out and buy a new one right away as I doubt that is the problem. I have K-lite codec pack installed, my windows is genuine and fully updated. I have tried WinAvi 8 and 9. I just can't figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You

does it still burn data dvd's with nero? If so post a burn log from nero.
I have never heard anything good about that other program and burning.

It does burn data dvd's with Nero still. By burn log do you mean the information you get when you are burning a project?

I need a good link to that mobo?

sata burner may have issues with controller/drivers?

the burn took 9 minutes which is way too slow for 18X and that mid code

                    those are real verbatims?

I followed these instructions, when I re-booted it didn't do the found new hardware bit but drivers were installed as I went and checked. It says:-

                      Transfer Mode DMA if available
                      Current Tranfer Mode Not applicable

"Real Verbatrims" Do you mean the type of disc's?, they're blank white with no labels/writing etc. I used Nero info Tool and it said the disc's were DVD-R MCC 03RG20. I typed this in google and it said they are Verbatrim's(same serial number) Read speed 16X, Write speed 18x

Here is a linik to the mobo details on XFX's website:-

And thanks for the help peeps

                            xfx identifies it as
XFX nForce 780i 3-Way SLI Intel Motherboard

                            ?????????????

your link didn't work and your description was not accurate

I assume you are using the 9.46 drivers and mode is set to ide in bios?

burn manually with nero since it sort of works, those disks were branded/labeled verbatim right? or what name were they sold under?

win/spam/avi has a hard enough time with conversions, forget burning with it
