Vista sees drive wrong nec3550a

Ok I installed my brand new nec 3550A in my new rig and Vista installed it as nec 4570A.I bought a pair of the 3550A 1 year ago and have never used this one.Is it a Vista error or maybe it can't find the driver??Or is it my drive?

I again opened up pc and looked at drive it has 3550A labels could it have been flashed at the factory wrong ?I'm attempting a burn.

I don't think it would be flashed wrong, more than likely they put the wrong sticker on it

the drives are closely related tho

where did you buy this drive? new unopened, or ?????????????

Oem from a cpu shop near my job a ma pa asian couple owns a little build pc shop,it doesn't read media it says no disc present I've tried Yuden ,sony DVD+R16x and verbDVD-R16x?

edit whoa server acting up,it was in a sealed plastic not a box

In properties it says device working properly but,IT'S NOT!!!Agh I have the worst and I mean the worst burner luck of anyone in the galaxy

Man my pc is acting funny imgburn is frozen on the searching for devices and a disc keeps flashing as if it sees the blank then no more flash ,flash on flash off

It has 1.02 firmware and I suppose it's dead? If it can't see the blanks?

I'm gonna try in my p4 because I uninstall re-install and when I restart my boot order is all screwy but,I didn't change it ,it still reads as a 4570a and you know what sux I got 2 3550a off ebay and sold them when I got these thinking that they would be more reliable than ebay guess what my buddy loves his and I probably got a brick,my burner luck is limitless.

is it jumpered master and at end of cable by itself?

not anymore it's not in I put the benq back.But when I restarted pc it came up boot error insert systems disc and hit enter so I reset entered the boot menu and told it to boot from hdd with vista save exit<f10> and restarted but same error.How could installing a drive cause all this?I'm throwing it in the old trusty P4 with XP pro SP2 and I'll let you know but,after further inspection with it in my hand it saysND3550 16X+/-R/RW

The bottom line tipping me off that indeed it is labeled wrong as I believe 3550 did not have Ram support is that correct Jedi/nec master?

I think your is 4570, type nec 4570A you will see alot, read about it

It's a brick it stays green for a while and it's trying to read the disc but end result nothing and it's deffinitely 4570.Imgburn keeps saying logical devive getting ready or whatever and the disc icon flashes the green led stays on about 2 min and little clicking noises it's trash right?I'm gonna blow it out and try once more than it's in the trash unless you guys know something I don't (well you know alot more)I mean pertaining this drive
