    Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1633S DVD Burning Issues!

    Hey guys, Im really a noob when it comes to burning DVDs so I apologize in advance. I have DVD FLICK and encoded a video, and I am trying to use the newest trial version of NERO to burn it onto a dvd. I have the Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1633S BGS4 and have tried using both a Memorex DVD-R and Maxell DVD-R 16x. Everytime I try to burn them, as SOON as the burning starts an error comes up saying ILLEGAL DISC and it stops. PLEASE any input at all would be greatly appreciated!

    ALSO I have seen others tell people they should update their firmware, but I have NO idea on what firmware is or even what I am looking for, let alone how to install it.

      since they don't match up, we know your drive is an oem version, some off the wall company like emachines buys a ton of drives and gets special firmware and then they support the drive not liteon, neat deal but you get caught holding the bag

      time passes, new faster blanks come out, your burner's firmware(programming) doesn't know what they are, you are stuck

      unless you go to codeguys

      google and install winrar, you'll need it

      don't argue, won't do you any good, either flash the drive or buy 8X media or get a new drive

      you need one of the csot patched versions, many have fixed their 1633's this way

          wow, thanx alot i really appreciate it! ill give that a shot real quick!

          so once i download it and it opens with WINRAR, i just open the .exe file? do i need to use OmniPatcher?

              I was suffering from the same problem with my retarded Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1633S BGS4 drive.
              But, thanks to someone recommeding the CSOT-crossflashed-mult. its completely fixed now, and burns 16x Verbatim DVD-R discs.
              Thank you so much, I'm a complete noob when it comes to computers. eek.
