dvd burner overuse??

<TABLE class=msg_table><TBODY><TR><TD class=msg_text_cell>i bought my dell desktop in 2006. i have gone through 3 dvd-rw drives and in need of another. eventually the burned dvds have glitches during playback. the original plays fine. the burned ones skip, freeze or play with the audio going out intermittently for a few seconds. i dont understand why the drives start giving me problems. am i overuseing them?? what could be the cause??

They all wear out sometime. And that time seems to be lessening. Still, 3 changes over a couple of years seems a lot. How many burns are you getting from each burner?

probably a couple hundred to thousand. i purchased my last one mid-april and it started with the glitches about a week ago.

would a burner overheat and damage itself if smone were backing up a audiobook with say 16 discs. if they were burning them back to back to back?

You might try some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs to see if it makes a difference for you. As far as overheating, I would think the disc would actually be hot/warm to the touch when you remove it from the drive. What brand burners are you using?

you have to space between burn mines atleast over few thousand and still fine, plus how fast you burn, burn fast wear fast too

Hi Craig,

From my experience ... use Verbs and DO NOT burn Faster than 8x.

As far as burners go .. I am still using my BenQ ... so I can't help you there as far as recommendation ... since BenQ are no longer sold.

May be you can tell us your DVD Burner Brand, Model No., and Firmware version.
