Burning images on dvd+r DL with imgburn n nero

Hi,
i've tried to burn various iso images with nero and imgburn on dvd+r DL media. The writer burns the images fine on both programs with the option set for booktype to dvd-rom. once the burn process is done, I re-insert the dvd into my dvd writer but it fails to read it, i also try it in my other dvd-rom on same PC and also it doesnt read it there. But it reads it fine on my laptop which has a dvd-rw. my PC dvd writer is a Samsung SH-S203P, and the media i'm using atm is Infiniti360 printable dvd+r DL. My laptop is a dell inspiron 1525.

any ideas whats wrong? thanks

just tried burning and setting the book-type to what the physical disc is (i.e. leave it as dvd +r DL) and after the burn process my samsung writer reads it..but strange it doesnt when its set to dvd-rom?

anyone else experience issues like this??

1. ONLY use Verbatim, +R, 2.4x, MKM-001-00, Made in Singapore for DL burns. They really are the only reliable DL discs. Eveything else is cheaper, but is soooo much inferior and produces bad burns. See here.

2. Slow down the burn, particularly on laptops.

3. Verify your burn and if possible, do a PIPO scan afterwards.

4. Check for a newer firmware for that burner.

according to the log, average burn rate was 4x? the burn is fine AFAIK, as it is fully readable on my laptop. just not on my SH-s203p which is on my pc. have latest firmware on it.. SB01. also this drive does definately support bitsetting doesnt it..if that log is anything to go by?

Please go back and re-read post 4. Your disc is of such low quality, it can't even be read in your Samsung drive.

It's most likely got nothing to do with that (but check that the drive can read other discs).

Get some Verbs and try again. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

lol this is weird. changed the drivers to siI 3112 satalink ones, my computer wouldnt boot to windows, then had to change it back, and now my drive reads those discs which i set to booktype dvdrom! YAY!

with nero infotool, it says under configuration for storage controllers:

how do i check if it definately using that driver? that is what i changed the driver to and then windows didnt boot up, so had to bootup with windows vista cd, and when it asked me to load drivers for my vista harddrive i used the sataraid ones from siliconimage.com with version 1.0.60.0. and then windows loads now?

I'm trying to set the booktype using imgBurn on my Dell Latitude D830 with a PBDS DVD+-RW DS-8W1P and the latest driver (BD1C) on Verbatim DVD+R DL disks but get errors when trying to set the booktype. When I try using the BenQ tab the error says "Unknown (FAILED!). Reason: Invalid command operation code". If I try the LITE-ON tab the error is "Unknown (FAILED!). Reason: No Additional Sense Information" when either Drive (For DVD+R DL Media - EEPROM!) or Drive (For DVD+R DL Media). Did you have to do anything special to be able to set the booktype?

Using ImgBurn, I have never had a drive not automatically change the booktype for Dvd+R DL to Dvd-Rom. For Dvd+Rs, some drives like LiteONs need the LiteON bitset utility & Pioneers need the firmware tweaked to be able to do it. You should check out the ImgBurn Forum right here.

i didnt burn the discs on my laptop. burnt it on my PC using my samsung writer and it didnt read on my PC after the burn completed but it read fine on my laptop. I re-installed some drivers, and now I can read the dvds set to booktype dvd-rom on my PC. strange! i havent tried burning on my laptop yet..
