Burned dvd won't play in dvd player

Hi,
I am very new to all this. Here's the short story. My daughter bought me a DVD from Australia (region code 4). I was advised to burn it to a DVD -rw. Did that with decrypter and shrink (also have the trial of nero). It will play on the computer but not in the DVD player which is compatable. Next was told to try DVD +R Same thing happened. Any other advise before I go spend money on a new DVD Player.

Australia is in region 4 and uses PAL. The US is in Region 1 and uses NTSC. You will need a player that plays PAL (PCs do!) and possibly (but unlikely) a region hack.

Or you can convert it to NTSC but you need to know what you are doing.

Cannot understand why your daughter bought you a region 4 dvd.
I think region 1 dvd is more popular and easy to buy.

But i know many dvds are region free and can be played all over the world, i am not sure whether your dvds can.
