I am sorry if this is not an appropriate forum for this question. I have a Sony DVD recorder and Sony VHS cassette recorder. I have been using these to copy my home VHS cassettes to DVD (via my TV); this has been successful for PAL cassettes but will not work for some that are in NTSC format. The NTSC cassettes will play on the VHS recorder and display on the TV screen. However, on the DVD recorder, the picture soon breaks up and goes to a blank screen (but with sound) and I get the message that the picture cannot be recorded. The cassettes are all home produced and are not commercial items that might have some sort of copy protection on them. I have set the output from TV to DVD recorder to "Monitor", ie. the picture on the screen goes to the DVD recorder. Any suggestions as to how, if possible, to get over this?
