DVDshrink burning problem

Can anyone help me ? I have tried to burn some DVDs using DVDshrink but I keep getting the error message "DVDshrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to create folder. Incorrect function". This refers to the DVD drive E:

Similarly, if I try to view the contents of the DVD drive, I get the message No disc is in the drive". There are no other clues as to what might be the problem.

I have used DVDshrink successfully many times before but not for at least a year.

I am using Windows XP and the system uses DVD +R or +RW. I have tried brand new DVDs in the drive. The drive plays DVDs without ay problem.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
