Multiple problems with my burner TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632D

I have been trying to resolve this issue since last year but couldn't find a solution to it yet. I am using Nero 7 to burn my CD, DVD, RW. Rarely, I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 6. Couple of months back nero failed to write CDs, last night it failed to write DVD -RW and now it is failing to erase the RW discs. It can however read the discs in Bootable and XP SP3 OS mode. My system looks like it has only PIO transfer mode however I have selected "DMA if Available" . Historically the CD Burner was running perfectly fine with the same applications and other hardware devices but didn't encounter problem until last year. Someone please help me to resolve this issue.

It's kind of a standard trick in Windows Support to boot into Safe Mode. Go in Device Manager. Select the device(in this case the CD/DVD optical drive) and Delete it.

Reboot. It should reload the driver. Before attempting make a restore point.
I think this trick fixes about 90% of hardware issues where the hardware is not really broken.

I already tried this trick before and even today by uninstalling the device from the device manager and scanning for hardware changes but still no luck yet..

Do you have InCD driver installed by any chance? I found that to be nothing but a headache. I took all the Nero stuff off a long time ago. Too many side effects. Plus it seemed like every time I started the program before the CD drive stopped flickering, it hung and corrupted my registry. I'm done with Nero.

I opened up Nero tool and I couldn't find anything like InCD but still would like to know how can I find if it is really installed or not. Also, note that most of the CD writing applications that are currently installed in my system exist since long time (Before the issue affected Nero and Ashampoo).

If you can copy and delete individual files on an erasable and you have Nero, then you probably have InCD. It tends to go sour at unpredictable times. It can work well for months, then nothing seems to work right. If you don't take my word for it take a poll on video encoding sites. I think you'll find all the old times have gotten it off their systems.

For Nero related stuff I would try a Nero specific forum. It's too much of doing it the hard way for most here.

I guess that feature exist even in windows cd burning application. I have also tried uninstalling nero completely and reinstalling it again. The last time it burned sucessfully through Nero was in Nov 2010. After that I have used Ashampoo but now I couldn't even erase it with any of the application. Can you figure out anything from my Nero log? I suspect something else could be wrong.

Remove INCD (as has already been stated), if you've installed Nero and you don't know if it's there, then it's there. Hell remove Nero, I did! The key is to do a mental backtrack of your application installations to when they were first installed. I haven't used Nero in years, but when I did, I made certain that incd was out of the picture. Then try something workable like imgburn.

When you first move away from Nero or a similar kitchen sink converter/burner it's disorienting. But fortunately there are a whole range of free converters that take varied amounts of skill to use. Some are practically one click. Others use AviSynth Scripts. Still others have many settings or only perform one part of the conversion, such as video encoding and you need to do the other steps with other tools. But you don't have to learn in a day. Hang on forums like this and start with some generally reliable easy tools. For example DVD Flick, AutoGK, AviDemux.. as you pick up more about bit rates and other settings you'll get more control over the output.

One of the things that got me to quit Nero was it insisting on creating a DVD Video disc when I just wanted a bunch of .avi files on a DVD. It wanted to encode every one of them to DVD. It takes awhile to get your feet wet but it gives you something to do.

Not fond of Nero either....possibly good advice Miles. I've had "some" luck with IMGBurn controls, but still not getting what the drives are capable of..2 TSSTcorp+1 Asus DRW-24B1ST. I think Miles has a good point, and being an old head myself, I intend on trying his fix. That is, if my new rig has the same issues as this one.

I'm going with 2 Crucial SSD drives in raid 0 with a Seagate 1Tb storage drive. The new Asus Sabertooth 990FX will lay the foundation, with 8gb DDR3 2000mhz mem, twin Sapphire 6790's, Xigmatek AIO h20 cooling with an 80mm backup fan on each end to ensure super airflow at low RPM levels to cool the 1090T Blk, all powered by a Riadmax RX-850AE that pumps out 34amps per 12v rail.

I've got 2 of the TSSTcorp drives that went nuts when I went to Win 7 Ultra, and one Asus DRW-24B1st, but I'll probably use one of each on this build just to see how well they compare.

In any case, thanks for the "heads-up" Miles....I've had my suspicions, but I think you just confirmed what I suspected all along.

Wish me luck on this new build folks. It'll be my first SSD setup....spooky after 20 years of IDE and SATA drives.
PS. "ANY" input about this setup is welcome. Going to try and fire it up this week so if you have advice, please give it quick.
