DVD-R (Region Free) will not play on Sony

Hopefully someone out there has had a similar problem and knows the answer. I have ripped a DVD using DVD Decryptor, removed region protection using the same and then burned to a DVD-R using Nero. The resulting DVD passes all tests on my PC as being region free and plays fine. When I put the DVD-R in my Sony DVP-NS700P I get a message which says 'Playback prohibited by area limitation.' The player is region 1 and the DVD was region 2.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
