Only 3/4 of screen visible

At present I am trying to operate a new DVD drive system. I am only able to play the left 3/4 side of the screen. The last quarter is black. This is obvious when viewing print.
This problem does go away when I try some trial software.

I was wondering if there is a way to correct this problem using either the MaXimus DVD software or Zoom Player Software?
I am using a Windows 98 OS.
