    Sony CRX8 IDE CDRW/DVD

    I recently purchased a DELL notebook computer and it comes with a SONY CRX8 IDE CDRW/DVD combo drive. This drive seems to be region protected. The driveinfo utilities available can't seem to get a handle on the drive. Does anyone know whether the drive is protected and also if so, whether there is any firmware avilable to make it region free? Thanks.
