    Question abouyt Ulead program.

I hope this doesnt sound to dumb.
Why is there a Ulead MovieFactory and a Ulead Pro 6.5.
They both accomplish the same thing in the end, don't they?
I want to buy a program in a month or so when I finaly decide on a digital video camera.

Ulead produce a good number of software - covering all the niches.

Ulead Movie Factory isn't the same as Media Studio pro 6.5.

Basically MF is a write to Disc software - either CD or DVD disc. It add menus, creates screen buttons to play a video file. The layout of the buttons is fixed - preset designs are used. Of course you can change the look of those buttons but there is only a specific number of preset optional layouts available to you.

Media Studio pro 6.5 is a video capture, editing, and disc writing program.

MSP6.5 is a marvellous tool to capture and edit video with plenty of timelines, transitions and Special FX's to chose from and to enhance your videos.

Disc writing ability - this is a bit limited - it's more of a late add-on for this program and is there to assist in someone producing a final product. It has limited capability and a video editor would look elswhere in Ulead's software stable for another product.

Ulead DVD Workshop is the best Ulead DVD writing product - with floating buttons that can be re-sized enhanced with differing designs....

I'm in the process of recruiting people to become SoftDeko Members - the reward for members is the chance at FREE software. At the moment I've 14 software programs to give away - next month there will be more.

      Thanks

      Thanks Soft......
      Thats some great info.
I have a whole lot to learn .
I have been reading about vcd, svcd etccc.
I want to burn all my family video on svcd.
I downloaded a svcd sample and put it on a disk and my DVD (Panasonic) would not play it.
But someone on another site said all I have to do is change some settings.
So anyway, form that time on I have realized how much I have to learn to do a good editing, burning project.
And for the buttons you talk about I am going to need some definate video education.

        Brad,

The NLE video editing learning curve and the disc burning swing you'll have fun!

SVCD - not sure what's been advised - I thought SVCD's can only be played on a Computer based DVD player and NOT on a TV linked standalone DVD player.

If you have VHS tapes of family video be aware of the lower quality off these tapes.

What have you got to import the video into a computer.

VHS - you'd need an analogue input computer device - like a TV card or a pinnacle DV500 - depends how much you want to pay.

For DV - a firewire card will do.

Editing software - Ulead do a DV Combo pack - I mention this because I have one to review soon. this includes a Firewire card, nle (non-Linear editing) editing suite Video studio6 and a CD/DVD writing capability (limited but useful).

There are plenty of packages out and around - as you've shown an interest in Ulead - that's what i've mentioned.
