Hi,
I need some help with my Lite-on 165-H DVD drive in Win XP Pro, here's the story so far.
1. I wanted to play a region 3 dvd in my drive, power DVD gave me the option
but said I only had 4 more changes left.
2. Downloaded the 'drive info' program which told me the drive was locked to
region 2.
3. Went to 'The Firmware Page' and downloaded a recommended utility their
called RTC patcher that should be able to disable the protection.
3. Ran the program and still couldn't play the disk. Power DVD now says'
you're drive is set to the wrong region' and doesn't give me an option to
change.
4. Ran the Drive Info Program again it now says 'PROBLEMS WITH ASPI-LAYER
DETECTED'
5. Update my firmware to the latest official one, doesn't help.
6.Updated my firmware to the 'The Firmware Page' patched region free one and
still no change.
7. I ran ForceASPI to try to sort out things, it didn't help.
I know I've dug a big hole, please help me get out of it. Ideally, I would
like to return the drive to its original state or leave it region-free. At
the moment I think it can play region 2 and region free disks in the state.
Thanks for reading!
