    Adjusting position of Subtitles

When I play a foreign language DVD movie on my PC that has subtitles added the position of the titles appears to high & cuts into the picture.

When I play the same DVD on a friends standalone player the subtitles appear lower on the screen (In the black border at the bottom of the screen) & don't intrude into the picture.

My DVD playback software (leadtek WinfastDVD) does not give any options to adjust the position or style of the subtitle text. Are there any software DVD players that allow you to do this or are there any programs I can use in conjunction with my current DVD software to adjust the position, Font style & size of the subtitle text?

I thought this problem might have been exclusive to the version of the movie I was watching (Luc Bessons, Subway Region 1) but I received my copy of Betty Blue today, Another French language film which came from Madman, Australia (Region 0) & this has the same problem - subtitles appear inside the picture & coloured yellow! Why the hell would any one make subtitles yellow??? What's wrong with white?

Are you sure that your software DVD player isn't showing "Closed Captioning" subtitles (which are usually positioned higher)?

Try using a different software DVD player, such as WinDVD or Power DVD...

Funny you should say that because when I tried 'Subway' on a friends DVD player the subtitles appeared in the black borders where they are supposed to be.

I have Zoom player freeware DVD software & Leadtek winfast DVD software which came with the graphics card.

Do the players you mentioned give you options to alter closed captions subtitles? What alternatives are there in the way the subtitles are displayed?

        thanks for your reply.

"Do the players you mentioned give you options to alter closed captions subtitles?"

They give you the option of NOT SHOWING the "closed captioning" and selecting any available "normal" subtitles (which typically appear below the picture)...
