8cm DVDs - 100% incompatible?

I have one of those new Hitachi Video Cameras with the DVD burner. It produces 8cm DVD-R and/or 8cm DVD-RAM...

Whilst I can connect it to the PC and move video about, I want to be able to read (and ideally write) the discs on my PC or at least play them on a DVD player...

So far I have had no success..

Has anyone had any success with this?

(Hitachi say that their DVD ROM will read them, but it is not available in Australia)

These discs are supposed to be ordinary DVDs only smaller!!

I noticed the same dilemma.

BUT......I haven't "finalized" the DVD yet so it can be read by a DVD player and be edited.

I think this will make a difference.

@Andy Odell - it will make a difference. We had a Sony digital camera (forget the model number)in work that took jpg and mpg2's I think, we had to do this to get our pc's to recognize the small DVD's
