need help with computer palyback

i am using smart ripper to do the ripping..
dvdx for the encoding...
Power cdr for changing to avi and burning..

then i tried playinjg itwith every version of windows media
i also tried divx and any othe .dat player i found
and like 3 other programs and players i downloaded and none want to open the .dat file that the Power cdr created..
i wanna know if its cdr express or what....

sorry I can't help you with the AVI issue but something that might help:

Windows does not like MPEG-2 - for some reason it is not supported in the Windows media player...

However a really GREAT and FREE media player is available that will play VOBs and just about any kind of MPEG:
