backing up dvd's with panasonic 104

Hi guys
I'm thing about buying a panasonic 104 DVD writer, and have heard that it is a good writer, but the backing up of DVD Movies is not straight forward.
we have 7 kids in the house, and disks dont last very long , so can anyone please advise, on how to back up my movies
Or in fact any advice on this drive

Doom9.org and vcdhelp.com contain advice on backing up dvd movies and dvd authoring check out the forums and guides at the site. (There's some tips and tricks you'll benifit from ) Also your stand-alone dvd player must recognize the disc. There are some 4 various dvd recordable formats. DVD-R seems to be popular.
