Please help with Pioneer DVD-116

Some time ago I received a film from USA whit Region 1 code
because my drive was Region 2 I changed it to 1 so I could see
that film.For some time I didn't watch Region 2 films and now
there's a problem that I can use only regionfree disks and Region 1
but after inserting a disk from Region 2 the disk can't be read
at all like no disk in drive but there is.

I tryed to flash regionfree firmware v1.09 and 1.22 and a result
is nothing changed ,back to RPC2 the same situation.
The reason why I can't change the region is that a prog "Pioneer
Firmware Update Utilitie" must have Region 2 disk in the tray to
proceed but disk from that Region can't be read.

Data ,Audio CD-ROM's and (S)Video CD's work fine

Is there any program to change the Region without a disk ?



Now I have regionfree firmware 1.22 again
The drive still can't read region 2 disks so
I'm unable to use Pioneer Region Utility
The drive looks locked besides RPC-1 firmware
maybe there's something else that causes it ?


I have no Idea what to do...Please help

I also have this Pioneer 116

I'm able to play both region 1 and 2 fine

Upgrading or degrading your firmware won't change your region at all. you might have to contact Pioneer about this.

All you need is the soft "DVD Region-Free".

It allows you to watch all region DVDs on your region-locked DVD drive.

You needn't hack DVD drive (flash firmware) which is sometimes dangerous, useless or unavailable.
