    Can a DVD-movie deactivate region-free?

One week ago I played a rented DVD in my modified Panasonic RV-31. After that, the player refuses to accept any legal DVD:s, but still plays DVD:s I bought in China.

Is it possibly/have anyone heard about that a DVD can change or deactivate regionsettings?

There are numerous "region-free hacks" that you can apply to your dvd player to play NTSC or PAL films. A site that has info about what hack can be used for your specific dvd player can be found here Just type in the specific model of your dvd player and look what people have to say about it.

No, I meant the opposite. Can a DVD-movie carry a copy-protection software that deactivates multi-region "fixes"?
