Play VOBs directly from DVD, before Ripping?

Is it possible to play the VOBs on the DVD directly, by choosing which one I want to see, without ripping them first? I want to see what each VOB actually is before taking the time to rip the thing. I tried that in PowerDVD and it keeps popping up a Copyright/Region thing. The VOBs refuse the display when I try viewing them with other programs (BSPlayer).
