    DVD Through Lan

I have a new DVD drive in my computer, and my dad has an old drive in his computer, the problem is that his drive cannot run he newest DVD's but he has a Realmagic Hollywood+ card, which can give a better picture than my TV-Out card.

So I want to know if there is a way to "stream" the DVD's from my computer to my dads computer or is the 100Mbit/s to slow???

It is possible for divx. I think it would be possible for dvd's as well. You might get a more definite answer by performing a google search.

You will have to rip the DVD to HD to do that. The problem is that the Hollywood plus software, can only get the key needed for decrypting the DVD, if it's in a local DVD drive.

        Yes khp

But when I didn't have a DVD drive i ripped from my Dads Drive (which works with elderly DVD's) I just opened it first in a DVD player to unlock the drive and the it was possible to rip it.

Isn't it the same when playing it???

No, When ripping from a remote drive, the ripping software most likely used decssplus, which lets it read the key, simply by looking at the vob file. The Hollywood+ software can't do this.
