DVD component player into CPU/LCD

I have a DVD component player, but no TV (I'm a student!). Is there anyway I can input the video signal from the DVD player into my computer so I can watch it on my LCD -- or would it be better to connect the DVD player directly to my LCD monitor?

I think I have to buy a video card but not sure which one.
