    DVD burning

I am trying to burn downloaded video to a DVD using a pioneer DVD-RW. My computer recognizes the burned DVD but none of my 3 stand alones do. They all say that they will recognize all of the various media and i have tried different brands including DVD-R and DVD-RW. I have also tried different software to burn the video. Please Help!!!!!!

    Your terminology is confusing.

    1) Do the docs for any/all of your standalones indicate that they are capable of reading BURNED (rather than COMMERCIAL) DVDs?

    2) DVD-R and DVD-RW are formats (as are DVD+R, DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM), not brands. Have you tried any different brands (e.g. Memorex, etc.)?

The burning procedure may also impact on the ability of standalone players to recognize the burned dvd-r disc's. You may want to read (search for) some posts on other's "succesful" burns at doom9.org as well as this forum.

I'm sorry. I'm not good with this terminology. I have tried different media brands. I can't find anywhere if my stand alones will play a burned disk. They are all very new and my sony is on the compatability list. I think that I may not be using the right program to burn. I am using computer software (sonic, nero, windows media, magix) could format have something to do with it? I have purchased an MPEG2 but I don't think that i know why or how to use it. HHHEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!! Thanks!

As I suggested earlier, search this forum as well as the forum at doom9.org---you can find some very detailed guides/procedures for dvd burning.
