No Sound on newer Movies - Am I missing something?

I just d/l'ed Blade2, and the video is perfect but i'm not getting any sound. I'm using Windows media player 7.01, I just d/l'ed and installed Divx5. That didn't work. So i tried to d/l some audio files/progs from this site but nothing worked. When i load the file, it says looking for codec.. etc.

Any help would be great (and if i'm just missing some audio codec please post a link with it).

P.S. This is all for d/l'ed movies, nothing commerial
Oh, my sound for all my older movies (blade1, matrix etc etc) all work fine.

    Thanks for any help

Chances are the audio was encoded in .AC3 format, in which case you'll have to download and install an .AC3 codec/filter...

get Nimo Codec Pack. it contains the proper audio codecs for watching divx/xvid movies

for some movies you need Windows Media Audio v2 codec. just get WMA v9 codec or download the complete Windows Media Player v9. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-wma.htm

Ok, i removed all my old divx and other crap. Installed the latest WMP (v7.01) (used the update my media player in WMP)...

        D/L Nimo, installead it.

Tried to play the movie, now i am getting this error..
        **
Wmplayer has caused an error in MMSWITCH.AX
        Wmplayer will now close.
        **

It's doing it for all my movies (d/l'ed movies).

I tried a normal Avi file and it worked fine.

If i uninstall Nimo, it just tells me i don't have the correct codec to play the movie.

I'm using a Radeon 8500 on windows ME if that helps/matters.

If anyone has any other suggestions/ideas i'd love to hear them. I'm gonna try d/l'ing some other things later, will post my results.

Don't blindly install the entire pack - ONLY install the .AC3 codec/filter...

I blindly installed the whole pack

Anyways. I d/l'ed some Ace pack (think i found it off this web site, but can't find the link for others if they having this problem also).

And also used that other link for WMP v9 files, and everything works great. Thanks for the help both of you

I just wanted to get it to work so installed the whole load, now I know it will work, i'll go back and find out exactly what i need.

Figure here is a good spot to ask, with Codec v5 +, do i also need the lower versions? (4, 3.11 etc)? or does 5 work for older versions?

            Thanks again
