Planet of the Apes playback very dark

I use Cinemaster 4.0. I have a pretty robust system. My graphics card is Geoforce2 GTS. This dark playback is new and I think just with this one DVD(planet of the apes) Thanks.

Does your playback software have video adjustment settings (contrast, hue/luminance, brightness)?

      No playback settings

The software does not provide this funtion. I used Intervideo WinDVD on a notebook and it had this funtion. I quess I am cheap, I already bought Cinemaster for $29.00

Does your video card provide the ability to adjust color, contrast, luminance, etc.?

If not, and this isolated condition (ONLY this DVD) really bothers you - well, I guess you have to weigh not spending for other software against being dissatisfied with the DVD...

Great question! I played with the video card color management tab, it only affects the deskktop color, brightness...

I think the problem might of started when I downloaded the new Nvidia detornator(drivers) from their site.

I will contact Nvidia, what a pain in the ass! Thanks for your help!!

If it's an NVidia card, I'm fairly certain that it should have separate Display control tabs for Videos/3D Games, etc. apart from the desktop. Perhaps you just have to "hunt around" your system a little. (Do you have a separate icon in your system tray for the videocard?)

The "Overlay Color Control" can be found in control panel -> display -> settings -> advanced -> GeForce2 GTS -> Additional Properties -> Overlay Color Control.

Might be in a slightly different location depending on which Windows OS you are using, and which version of the NVIDIA drivers.

                Overlay controls

I went to the Overlay Color Control control panel and it was greyed out. I could not move any of the levers. If I could get them to move I think I could solve the problem. Your feedback is great! Thank you! MavIce.
