Why did DVDGenie screw up my DVD player?

I have a Sony laptop running V3 of WinDVD (I think that version). Was having some trouble with burned DVDs so I tried DVDGenie. It screwed the thing up badly.

I cannot get sound anymore, and the sound control is greyed out on WinDVD.

Further -- DVDs won't show any menus anymore. And now many of them won't play.

Why did I try this? It reallly screwed things up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It also screwed up my Windows Media Player which now doesn't play DVD, saying there is no DVD decoder on the computer.

Why oh why did I do this???

It's rather hard to believe that DVD Genie has wrought all this mischief.

Do you recall just what settings you altered with DVD Genie (Presumably using only items under the "WinDVD" tab)?
