    dvd help

    i have just installed a dvd player one of pc world's own brands installed it switch it on put dvd into it on the screen came a message
    there is a problem with your video sub system try lowering your screen resolution and colour depth this may solve the problem.

    well it didn't.

    Pc has a pentium 2 running at 100hz graphics card is 1meg,computer has memory of 96 mb.

    Anybody any idea

    Your system is the problem in this case. A pentium2 is the bare minimum for watching movies, and with that 1meg video card, you should really think about getting a new PC if you want to view dvd's on your computer.

      its the youngest daughters pc and she only wants to watch them occasionally so I dont really want to buy a new pc is there any way round it

        Sorry, I don't think there is any way to play a dvd movie on that computer, just remember if you think of upgrading it, its better off to buy a new pc, even a cheap one will be 10 times better than this one.

          Viewing a dvd file on the system you described is next to impossible.

          However, you can try the following:
          -lower resolution (640x480)
          -reduce colour depth to 16 bit
          -use a less resource dependent player such as Powerdvd
          -turn off all non-essential applications while attempting to play the dvd


          These steps are designed to lower the load on the cpu.
