    Playback on a Stand alone DVD player?

    Hi, I'm new to all this converting and burning so please go easy. I have literally spent 1 week trying to learn how to backup a DVD Movie to a CD-R or multiple CD-R disks to playback on my stand alone DVD player with no success. PLEASE TELL ME IT IS POSSIBLE.

    I have successfully created an AVI for "Tomb Raider" (using the Gordian Knot 0.21beta program) on a CD-R with sound (finally) and it works fine on the computer but how do I get it to work on my stand alone DVD player in my lounge room???

    Can anyone help? or tell me which site the answer is at?

    Eternally grateful
    Steve

    Congratulations on your successful .AVI creation!

    Unfortunately, to burn a CD-R that MAY play on a standalone DVD player, your .AVI file must be converted to conforming MPEG1-Video CD format. This can be accomplished with the excellent software program TMPGEnc.

    The reason I said "MAY" play on a standalone DVD player, is that A) not all standalone DVD players play VCDs and B) most standalone DVD players are finicky about which brands of CD-Rs they are willing to recognize.

    Go to this site to see brand/model-specific information regarding your standalone DVD player's capabilities:

    Video forums, video software downloads, guides, blu-ray players and media.

    Let us know of your success ;>}
