PS2 Playback

I recently burned a copy of The Blair Witch Project with my Pioneer DVR-104 onto the DVD-RW that came with the burner and attempted to play it back in my Sony Playstation 2...but after I inserted the disc into the PS2, all I get is a "Disc Read Error"...what's the problem??? Do the PS2 need a mod chip in order to play back DVD-R's???
I used DVDXCopy to burn the backup...

Apparently so. If you search these sub-forums for "PS2" or similar, you'll find several posts alluding to this...
