    DVD playback with ISA soundcard

I'm having some problems playing DVDs on my computer. The sound crackles and playback isn't very smooth. I'm suspecting it is my soundcard as it is ISA and not PCI (yes, I still have an ISA soundcard) as the sound might not be keeping up with the video. Does anybody know for a fact whether or not an ISA soundcard would have any effect on DVD playback? I've read that it does as well as it doesn't.

I'm running on a AMD K6-2 500, 512MB RAM, WinXP, ISA SoundBlaster 32 PnP, ATI All in Wonder 128.

Any help, suggestions, replies would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    isa cards

isa cards are 16 bit and the processor you have is i beleve 32 bit but either way isa cardds are slower (8mhz bus) and the least advances of the cards on the market today now if u had an Eisa card that would be a diffrent storybut just try to replace the sound card with a pci and see what happens and with an amd and 500 mghz you should have an on board built in sound card, if you do try using that.

Well for those interested in knowing...

I went out an bought a PCI sound card and now I can playback DVDs with no problems at all. I have no clue as to why it helped but all I can say is that an old / slow soundcards - dating back to the old ISA Sound Blaster 32 - will cause some performance problems with DVDs (especially in Windows 2000 or WinXP).
